Folks are getting pretty creative with these AR-15 giveaways. Ignite Church in Joplin, Missouri is the latest interest group to get involved, offering two Black Rain Ordinance AR-15’s to church goers this past Fathers Day.

The idea was fairly clever. Every Father attending church that Sunday was allowed an entry. Extra raffle tickets were given for every kid Dad brought to church. Bonuses tickets were also granted for bringing your own Dad.

Pastor Heath Mooneyham is quite the character. Gun toting, mohawked pastors with tattoos weren’t around when I was growing up. If they were, maybe I’d of appreciated church more.

Pretty simple. Bring young people to church so Pastor Mooneyham can introduce them to Jesus. Sounds like good old fashion first AND second amendment fun to me.

Mooneyham took to YouTube in promotion of his raffle. See for yourself:

“If we can get more people to follow Jesus, I’ll give away 1,000 guns. I don’t care,” said Pastor Mooneyham.

Get yourself to Ignite Church in Joplin, MO and “double tap a zombie” in style with your new weapon. The Lamborghini of AR-15’s.

Ignite is hardly the pioneer of the church-giving-away-a-gun idea. The same raffle was held at Baptist churches in New York and Kentucky respectively earlier this year.

Mooneyham’s idea was met with some criticism, both online and among local church leaders:

“I think giving away weapons, with all the violence in this country, gives way to new violence,” said Steve Urie of Joplin Diversity Fellowship.

Ultimately the weapon was awarded to the lead guitar player in the Ignite Church band. Sounds like a dangerous guy to me.

What do you think AR-15 readers? Does Black Rain manufacture the Lamborghini of AR-15’s? What about churches and weapon giveaways? Controversial? Not batting an eye?

Let us know.
